Murder in the Family: The Dr. King Story was published in 2015 by Dundurn Press. It is my first book and writing it satisfied a long-standing desire to provide an historically accurate telling of Brighton's legendary murder story. Long bandied about as local lore, it was also family lore for the Ames and Buchanan families of Codrington. The murderer was a relative and, in fact, had been buried in the front yard of the King/Ames/Buchanan farm house on the north edge of Codrington. The author grew up looking out his bedroom window at the spot where the notorious murderer had been buried.
Based on documents such as the Inquest Report and newspaper columns of the day, Murder in the Family is a rousing tale of the eternal triangle and one man's tragic loss of simple human empathy. It is a page-turner! The book was published in June of 2015 and was well received by history buffs and those who love a good true-crime story. It garnered plenty of compliments from readers and Murder in the Family continues to be one of the most popular topics in my catalog of history stories to tell. Murder in the Family: The Dr. King Story is available online: (KOBO eBook too!)
