Presqu'ile Point Lighthouse

Video from PPLPS January 8, 2021
Dave Sharp, Chairperson of PPLPS sent this link to a video summarizing the lighthouse restoration project. Check it out!
The Makeover is Done! Check out the fantastic results!
On a sunny day in early December, 2018, I took a drive out to the end of Presqu'ile Point to see the Presqu'ile Point Lighthouse now that all the renovations are done and the scaffolding has been removed. Took some pics, too.
WOW! Spectacular! I was stunned! The new lighthouse literally sparkled in the bright sunshine. Couldn't look away.
Check out the pics below to get a feeling for what our lighthouse is like now, after the makeover. I have to tell you that after taking pic 6 I had to take a moment. The image is kind overwhelming considering the struggle over the last decade or so to get this done.
We can all thank the folks who are and have been part of the Presqu'ile Point Lighthouse Preservations Society. Dave and the others persisted in the face of serious difficulties and frustrations. Here you see the results. Congrats PPLPS!
Thanks also to all you folks out there who helped, whether through donations or events, it took the whole community to do this!
Thanks to Presqu'ile Park for supporting this as well as the Province. It was really a complex collaboration. Nice job!
By the way, below the pics is info re the makeover, including a video of my talk about "Getting a Makeover" last April.

I'm Getting a Makeover!
Our beloved Presqu'ile Point Lighthouse is getting a makeover! This picture, taken in the fall of 2017, shows the scaffolding around the lighthouse where crews are replacing the outer shingles. Hopefully, in 2018, we can see a much prettier picture.
Preserving the Lighthouse
The Presqu'ile Point Lighthouse Preservation Society is hard at work raising funds for the completion of this work. Check out their web site at https://pplps.wordpress.com/.

Newsletters
PPLPS has produced newsletters which you can see here on their web site.

The History Guy has provided the content of the history page at the back of each newsletter.

Video - I'm Getting a Makeover
The History Guy presented a ten-minute talk at the Celtic Music Night on April 7, 2018, a fund raising event for the lighthouse.
I'm Getting a Makeover is the video of that presentation which was uniquely given in the first person, following through the history of the lighthouse as the lighthouse, itself, might recall. Check it out on YouTube.
