The study of history has been my passion and now is a full time job. Five unique history books demonstrate my desire to explain historical events objectively and present them in a readable form that everyone can enjoy. Whether in books, videos, web pages or PowerPoint presentations, history stories are based on deep-dive research and real documents as much as possible! Genealogy work continues - see Treesbydan.com.

The History Guy is constantly doing research and adding pages to the History section. Find accounts of unpublished stories such as the Breakaway and George Gibson's Schooner as well as plenty of detail in sections such as Around Town which provides the history of properties in Brighton. If you are curious about Brighton history, this is the place to look.
Use menu at top to see history stories and documentation. Current Project: Around Town - the history of properties in Brighton by street. Main, Prince Edward, Young and Dundas Streets are done. More to come......
Audio and Video Recording
Videos are an excellent medium for the History Guy to present history stories. You can see the video version of The Wreck of HMS Speedy as well as recordings of presentations for any of the books. Also find audio recordings of interviews with radio shows.
The History Guy is often the guest speaker at club meetings and participates as a vendor in farmers' markets and Christmas markets in the area. See where he will be and when over the next few months. This list is constantly being updated.
See the Events page for info re my future activities. Join in if you like!

Treesbydan is the official genealogy database created and maintained by historian, genealogist and author Dan Buchanan, the History Guy of Brighton. Researchers are encouraged to use data from this site with proper references and to send me corrections or additions via email. This is a constant work-in-progress and the end result is always better when we collaborate. Note: Historical narratives and associated documentation has been moved to my main web site.
