Brighton Digital Archives (BDA) is a group of volunteers that manages a web site containing collections of historical images for the Municipality of Brighton. The History Guy of Brighton is not a member of the BDA, but collaborates closely with them on research and telling stories based on historical images.
Several of Brighton's important historical collections have been added to BDA including the heritage buildings and the Latimer photos. The very ambitious Barns of Brighton project identified many old barns in the community and excellent photos were taken and added to BDA web site in order to preserve an important piece of the rural landscape we often take for granted until they are gone. The BDA web site also provides access to several videos regarding Memory Junction Museum and Presqu'ile Park. More video projects are on the agenda for this very busy volunteer group.
BDA Videos
Over the last few years, the Brighton Digital Archives group has been busy creating videos that feature people and topics related to the history of Brighton and Area. These are short, interview-style videos that are easy to access and quick to run. There is a Video option on the main Brighton Digital Archive web page and in there you can see the videos. Most of the videos have also been posted to YouTube where you can search for Brighton Digital Archives and see the list. You can also access them through the BDA Videos page on this web site. And, keep in mind, these folks are only getting started. We can anticipate more videos to come!
How did the BDA get started?
The History Guy of Brighton has created a presentation called "Introduction to the BDA" which outlines the early steps in the process that resulted in the wonderful organization we see today. See a web-based version of this at Intro to BDA.
